Working at Ziba Design I had the privilege of watching a product go from concept to launch over the course of two years. I joined the team as a "design software engineer". My primary role was to work with the design team to layout the frontend framework our development partner would use to build the final product. The secondary role was to standup a partially functioning prototype to test UX hypothesis and enable our clients data science team to plot example data.

Typically in the waterfall design / build process the design intent is passed off via design documents to the development partners. In this project in addition to design documents the prototype and codebase was a form of design intent communication. It reduced the amount of time the developers needed to consume the design documents because most of the views, CSS & frontend data structures were already created in the pre-development phase.
